Business course students meet Tuesdays from 1pm to 4pm.

Topics covered:

Learn the components that comprise a resilient business plan
-
Look at the many ways you can get your products to market and evaluate which support your quality of life, business and financial goals
-
Be introduced to techniques to evaluate if a certain crop or product is actually making you money
-
Learn how to track your expenses and income to build balance sheets and cash flow statements
-
Be introduced to resources to finance your business
-
Learn how to leverage social media to build a brand and market your products
-
Know the requirements for Organic Certification and the Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA)
Application process:

Applications are reviewed by the Education Manager, who will follow up to schedule an interview and farm tour.
Tuition:

The course cost is $500
-
Business partners may apply together, but must work on the same business plan in order to qualify to share the cost of the course
Skills desired:
-
This course is designed for growers who have production experience but are looking to sharpen their entrepreneurial skills.
Additional considerations:

The ideal candidates include those who will be:
-
planning to start a farm within the next two years
-
in the first couple years of running their own farm
-
wanting to change the structure of their enterprise.
